Last week I had a great experience with the Hilton Head Island – Bluffton Chamber of Commerce. They engaged me to do a presentation on Leadership, Management and Customer Service for their members.
The sponsors for the event were Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah and HARGRAY, the telecommunications company in the Hilton Head Island region. I learned a lot about how airplanes are manufactured which was fascinating and also the ins and outs of the telecommunication business.
Over 450 members of the chamber attended my presentation at the beautifully renovated Westin Hilton Head Island Resort and Spa. I have since heard from many of the attendees telling me how much they appreciated my presentation and especially how they appreciate what a great job the Hilton Head Island – Bluffton Chamber does in continually arranging learning and networking experiences for them. Before and after the event we had a book signing for my new book, The Customer Rules…The 39 Essential Rules For Delivering Sensational Service. Even a few attendees brought my first book, Creating Magic, to be signed. I have lots of new Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin friends.
I have worked with many Chambers of Commerce around the country but Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber stands head and shoulders above the others. It was obvious to me the first time I worked with them back in 2009 and again this time how they are totally focused on serving their members.
The Chamber President and CEO, Bill Miles and Cathy Havens, Special Events and Projects Manager organized a flawless series of events for me over two days.
The only flaw during my trip was my flight home being cancelled because of weather conditions up north where the flight crew was stranded. There were no cars available from any of the car rental companies, so Cathy Havens provided me sensational service by driving me to Savannah airport to get a car so I could drive back to Orlando. I got home an hour earlier than if I had flown so all is well that ends well.
