Tell The Truth With Enthusiasm

Good Morning Everyone

I am heading to London today to meet with my UK publisher. They are publishing my book in the UK, India, Australia and New Zealand. The best part of the trip though is that I am picking up my 12 year old grandson Jullian, showing him London and then bringing him home from his summer in France. 92 Days until my book is published. COMMUNICATE….COMMUNICATE AND COMMUNICATE

Today’s post is from many years ago when I was at Disney and we were going through a recession much like what may be happening now. This is the time to communicate more than ever and to tell the truth to your associates. The truth is usually much less scary than the rumors flying around.

COMMUNICATE! – COMMUNICATE! COMMUNICATE!
TELL THE TRUTH WITH ENTHUSIASM!

Lee:

Thank you kindly for meeting with us on our Trainer’s Day.  The group enjoyed hearing the Company perspective from you and getting it in an upbeat and casual way.

With global training, Voluntary Separation Packages and budget cuts, costuming issues, and Cast deployment all playing a major part in a Cast Member’s life, a great deal of individual soul searching is currently taking place . . . leading to a sense of “wait and see” to see which direction the Company is taking.  Being the respected leader that you are, our Cast Members came away with the feeling that the Company was still being guided by the ideals that we all cherish.  You instilled again a sense of trust, of confidence, and pride.

As trainers for this busy park and this very visible department, it was just what was needed as we are entering the busy summer season and are getting ready to train a new group of College Program and International Cast Members.  I thank you immensely for rekindling the sense of excitement about our Company that can be passed on to new Cast Members coming on line.

Thank you very much for your time.  You made a huge impact.

AS LEADERS, WE HAVE TO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE!

I am publishing this note that was sent to me, not to pat myself on the back, but to give you again an example of how important our own attitude and passion are in making your fellow associates feel good about your organization.  If your organization is  great, then you need to make sure as a  leader that you stand up and communicate that fact in a way that is believable and exciting.  It is part of your responsibility!   . . . SURVEY YOURSELF!

Think about how much freedom of speech and thought you have in your organization.  Be honest with yourself!   Remember that a big part of your paycheck is for your opinion.  I must admit that I have a couple of opinions that I did not clearly share with Al, my boss one, week, so I did not earn my pay; but I made up for it when he got back from vacation.   . . .
