Sorry for not posting very much lately. I have been on the road in Atlanta speaking to Ryder Systems, Inc which is a very impressive company. They don’t fool around. We had breakfast at 6:30…..Yes that is before it is light. Their work ethic and can do attitude is why they have grown from one truck in 1933 to a world dominance. Their founder Jim Ryder set the pace and culture back in the 1930″s when he had one truck.
Hard work still wins out when it is said and done. Out work your competition and you will win. Remember that WIN stands for, “What’s Important Now.” In every great company I work for I hear the CEO talk about how important integrity is and how important it is to take care of your people. This is what I heard from Ryder as well.
I am in South Africa right now and flew there as soon as I completed my work with Ryder. I have ten speeches in five cities in ten days. Ingrid Johnson is the head of Business and Retail banking for Nedbank. She hired me because she was so impressed by Disney World service and can do attitude from all of the Cast at the resort plus her perfect experience with the Disney Cruise line. Between her and her head of HR Ashley Sutton-Pryce I have had an amazing experienc. The leadership and front line team are focused on continual improvement.
The energy level from the leadership team in inspiring…..they are very professional and they want to get better every day. They took me into the bush over the weekend and I had the experience of my life. A full grown male lion walked out of the woods and came straight to our vehicle, took a look at me and the others and then proceeded down the road. I finally was able to breath again after he was out of site. South Africa is exciting, the people are great and World Cup Soccer is the center of everything right now. World Cup is from June 11-July 11. You need to visit this place to completely understand what one person like Nelson Mandela can achieve . He changed this country for the better just as Martin Luther King did for the United States and Mahatma Ghandi did for India.
Don’t every underestimate what you can do to make a difference in one persons life or in the lives of many.
