What's Important Now?

I read recently that the word “win” stands for “What’s Important Now.”

I love that thought because in today’s society it seems that so many people are just running around day after day doing everything except what’s important now… day’s turn into weeks and weeks turn into years and before long we have regrets that we did not do what was important then!

If you thought about this and did a review of yourself, what would you identify?

How about your health…..”What’s Important Now?” …I mean right now. The reason I would list this one first, is that if you die or get sick, what else really matters? What’s important now becomes someone else’s problem as they will have to go bury you. I think about this one each and every day. Don’t die for your organization. As someone told me this week, “At my company all you get at retirement is a gold ring, a cake, a few people showing up that really want to go home and if your lucky a nice bottle of red wine.”

How about your retirement plan? What is important right now? Do you have a plan and is it a realistic and attainable plan?

What about your children? What’s important right now at 6:30 pm (EDT) on May 20, 2010.

What about your spouse or partner? What’s important right now?

What about your personal development for that job you want in ten years? What’s important now?

In a basketball game when the score is 100-100 with one shot left….What’s important now?…… Make the shot!

When your spouse is sick and needs your complete and total attention and care…What’s important now?…Be there!

Knowing what’s important now and attacking it are two different things…..attack!

What’s Important Now at 6:30 pm on May 20, 2010 in your life? Are you going to do, What’s Important Now or continue to do things that will make no difference in your life?

Sorry about now blogging too much lately…..I have been on a whirlwind travel schedule. In March I went to the UK for 24 hours for a speech, a week later to the Netherlands for a week for four seminars, then I went to Charleston, SC and Wilmington, NC for two seminars and then to San Antonio for a speech, then to Shreveport for a public seminar and then to South Africa for ten seminars in five cities in nine days and then to Indianapolis for two speeches.

This Sunday I go to Rochester, NY for a public seminar and then to Frankfurt for the IMEX conference and then to Provence for the best of all…..a three week vacation. In July we head to Alaska to visit Prisiclla’s sister who is the Superintendent of Glacier Bay National Park and then to Seattle  for a few days vacation since we have never beenn there…..This retirement is keeping me very busy…..Until the next blog from somewhere, I hope everyone is ready for a magical summer…..What’s Important Now is a nice glass of red wine …..or two…..Lee

  1. Lee,

You never can blog “too much”. Your blogs are very motivational. Looking forward to the next blog (but, please, no blogging while you are on vacation!)
