Another Way To Think About Time Management

Thinking is the most important part of good time management or should we say, life management?

Keeping your life under control the best you can is the name of the game.

Lee:

Thank you again for your commitment to building  leadership excellence through your helpful time management class.

I attended a recent session.  Along these lines, you might appreciate the following three items which I keep in my own personal planning calendar.  Feel free to use or quote the items below if you find value in them.

A poem regarding time management . . .

Take time to think – it’s a source of power
Take time to play – it’s the secret of youth
Take time to read – it’s a fountain of wisdom
Take time to love – it makes living worthwhile
Take time to be friendly – it gives life flavor
Take time to laugh – it’s music of the soul
Take time to give – life is too short to be selfish
Take time to do your work well – pride nourishes ego and spirit
Take time to show appreciation – a thank you is frosting on life’s cake!

A quote written centuries ago . . .

“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”   . . .  Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Here’s a prioritized list of roles I play in “my” life.  I have sorted this list according to my own priorities to help keep me on course with what’s most important to me (see above).  This list could look different for others, but is a helpful exercise to do, think about, and live by (as best you can):

Roles I Play in My Life:

  • A Spiritual Being
  • An Individual
  • A Spouse
  • A Family Member
  • A Friend
  • A Working Professional
  • A Homeowner
  • A Manager of My Personal Finances
  • A Continual Learner and Student
  • A Member of My Professional Society
  • A Housekeeper and Cook

Have a good weekend everyone…Lee

  1. Jeremy…This list was not mine. It was sent to me by one of my students of time management….Lee

    Lee,

I wonder if you could eleborate on the difference between being a homeowner and a housekeeper, and why being a homeowner is so high on your list, above being a student and manager of personal finances.
