Inspiration is the Real Work of Leaders

Creating Disney Magic Episode 537 Inspiration is the Real Work of Leaders

“You’ve got to decide you are you’re different. You have the power and, opportunity to make people’s lives better, but are you doing it every day?”

Inspiration isn’t just a buzzword. It’s the real work of leaders. Years ago, I realized that creating an inspired environment isn’t about grand gestures. It’s about subtle, everyday actions that build a culture where people feel they belong and are valued.

As leaders, we need to set the stage for a culture of mutual respect, proper training, and consistent support. When you put the right elements in place, inspiration naturally follows. As a leader should should be able to go away for vacation or take of if you are sick and know that your team still performs exceptionally. That’s the magic of creating an inspiring environment. People wake up looking forward to work. It’s not because of you, the leader. It’s because of how they feel in their work community.

Everyone wants to feel appreciated. Remember, every small gesture counts. Sometimes, just knowing that their efforts are acknowledged can fuel someone’s desire to do better. I recall a former VP telling me, “I heard you were saying good things about me behind my back.” That simple act of appreciation can inspire confidence and dedication.

Creating this environment also means being cautious with your words. People will remember the positive things you say, but they’ll also recall the negative. So, speak thoughtfully and positively.

Lastly, always be mindful of those subtle moments of recognition, whether it’s a compliment on a shirt or acknowledging a job well done. These are the building blocks of an inspiring culture, where everyone feels valued and motivated to contribute their best.
